The File Manager is used to upload the documents, videos and other files that will be used on your website. Familiar controls are found on the top left, Open, New Folder, Delete, Grid View, Thumbnail View and Upload. At the bottom left are arrows to page through lists of files once they have been uploaded.
Uploading Files
To upload a file, first go to the desired location in the File Manager you would like to add the file to. Click the Upload button. Alternatively files can be dragged from the user desktop to the targeted folder in either the File or Image Managers.
To select the file to upload from your personal computer, click Upload and then the Select button and navigate to the correct location on your computer. You can add multiple files to upload at once as well.
To ensure compatibility with all versions of all browsers, only upload assets which do not have any spaces in their names. Either remove the spaces before uploading the files, or replace them with underscores (_) or dashes (-).
Once you are ready to upload the files, click the Upload button.
If the file already exists and you are simply replacing the existing file with the new file, select the Overwrite if file exists check box.
Deleting and Renaming Files
Select the asset you would like to delete and click the Delete icon from the top menu beneath the title of the page Asset Manager or right click for the fly out menu and select Delete.
Please note that if you delete an asset and it is currently used on the website, this will create a broken image.
To rename a file, right click and select rename from the fly out menu. Rename the file and click “OK” to save the changes.
Please note that renaming an asset which is being used on the site will create a broken image or file not found.
Adding and Deleting Folders
To keep your workspace organized in the File Manager you can add a New Folder by right clicking on the Documents folder and from the fly out menu select New Folder. A dialog box will appear allowing you to specify the name of the folder. Or you can click on the New Folder icon at the top of the window.
To delete a folder select either the parent or the child folder and right click. From the fly out menu select Delete. You will be prompted with a confirmation message, click OK or cancel to complete the task.
Please note by deleting a folder that contains assets which are being used on the site will create broken images or file not found.
