Properties
This is where you can edit the Page Name, SEO Meta details like Title, Description, and Keywords. You are able to adjust settings like the ability to show or not show this page in the Main Menu, Mobile Menu or Sitemap.
- Rename: This option allows you to rename the page name.
- Delete: This option allows you to delete the page.
- Add: This option allows you to add a page under that the top page. For example, if you click “Add” for the “Features” page, the new page will be added under “Features”. When adding a page, you’re also able to copy a pre-existing page so makes setting up a page much easier.
Editing Page Properties
Once the new page has been added to the navigation, click on the properties button. This will activate the “Properties” workspace.
Once the “Properties” workspace is activated, the following controls are available for setup.
Page Active flag
Checking this flag on or off will set the page active in your website or inactive. In your navigation manager, this is delineated based on Grey vs. red nodes in your tree view.
Page Link
This field is used to define the tile within the URL bar. An administrator can use this field to change the title in the URL and distinguish it from the name convention used in the navigation manager.
Visible in Menu
Checking this flag will make the page visible in the website’s menu. An admin can create a hidden page, by leaving this flag set to non-active.
Visible In Mobile Menu
Checking this flag will hide the page in a mobile menu of your website. This feature must be pre-configured and is available only in certain scenarios, specific to a customer deployment.
- Scenario 1 – The website has an adaptive menu, such as a hamburger menu. If this flag is selected the page will not show up in your mobile menu view.
- Scenario 2 – The flag can be configured to fire a media query that will show hide an element, page or content block when setting active on your mobile website.
Visible in Site Map
Checking this flag will add the page to the sitemap generator and will allow search engines to see and index the page on your website.
Canonical URL
This flag is used to set the authority of the page content. By setting this flag active, you are effectively telling the search engines that this page contains the source content and the origin. This helps deal with duplicate content, experienced in many multi-site configurations and blogs, in addition, provides an SEO boost.
Redirect
This flag will activate your website’s redirection controls. On a Web site, a redirection is a technique for moving visitors to a different web page than the one they request, usually because the page requested is unavailable. Web users often encounter redirection when they visit the website of a company whose website has gone through a redesign or a name has been changed or which has been acquired by another company.
Once the redirect flag is set active, the following dropdowns will be available for configuration.
Redirect Type
This drop-down allows you to set the type of code associated with the redirect. There are two option within the CMS for redirection;
- Permanent Redirects – These are known as 301 redirects
- Temporary Redirects - These are known as 302 redirects
It is important for SEO purposes to set your redirect code to ensure that your sites is not penalized when indexed by search engines. In addition, should content move, the old links will not redirect to the new ones causing your content to be out of sync when accessed via a search engines results page.
Redirect Target
This drop-down allows you to specify whether or not the redirect is to open within the same or new browser window.
Title
This field is used to specify the page title in the browser. This is a metadata field within your CMS.
Description
This field is used to specify the page description that the search engines read when indexing your websites. This is a metadata field within your CMS.
Keywords
This field is used to input keywords for your page. Adding keywords to this field will not only affect the indexability of the page with search engines but will impact the weighting of the built-in CMS search engine on your website. This is a metadata field within your CMS.
Force SSL
This flag allows you to secure a page behind an SSL certificate. For this flag to work, a valid SSL certificate must be installed and active on the website’s server.
